Usual steps for skin care: exfoliation and sun defence

A typical everyday care would include these several steps: washing/cleansing, toning (not obligatory depending on the type of skin), moisturizing and sun defense.

For most people, doing the routine twice daily is most favorable. Some people with dry and/or sensitive skin may do better with once a day washing/cleansing while moisturizing two or more times a day. Some specialists feel that exfoliation would also be a part of the basic plan. However, daily exfoliation may be extreme and may cause chronic irritation in some people. Exfoliation once or twice a week is usually normal. People with fast natural epidermal metabolism may need less or none at all.

Defense from ultraviolet light (UVA and UVB) is quite important for any skin care routine. A good UNA/UVB sunblocker should be applied on top of your moisturizer or other treatments as a final step of your routine when you are introduced to direct sunlight. Some people use skin care products or cosmetics with additional UV blockers. It is absolutely better than no sun protection at all and a time saver too. Nevertheless, using a separate, specially formulated sunscreen appears to be more efficient.
